Is Gender a Part? Gender Identity through an IFS Lens

My name is Nic Wildes (they/them) and I am Co-Director of SAYFTEE and a Certified IFS therapist and IFSI-Approved consultant.

In my ongoing quest to increase gender competence in the IFS community, I recently had the opportunity to be a guest on Tammy Sollenberger’s The One Inside Podcast to talk about my experience with gender identity and Internal Family Systems. I’d love for you to take a listen at the link below, and if IFS is new to you, you may find this blog post a helpful precursor to the podcast. Thanks for being here and I hope this is helpful!

Enjoy the podcast, and feel free to reach out to me with feedback – nicwildes@gmail.com

Gender Meditation

Before accessing the meditation, I invite you to take a moment to consider a few things:

Firstly, this meditation was created with transgender, nonbinary, and gender diverse folks in the center of my heart, with a broader intention to invite cisgender practitioners working with trans and nonbinary folks to develop their awareness and understanding of how they may relate to gender. I believe that it should be fully accessible to everyone regardless of access to resources.

Honoring that intention, I invite you to consider donating to one or more of the following organizations that work to affirm and create safety for trans, nonbinary, and gender expansive folks. They are highlighted below. Donating is not mandatory to access this meditation, but if you find yourself in a position where you are able to contribute, that would serve to honor the original intention I had in creating it. As a trans and nonbinary person myself, in exchange for my work in developing this meditation, I am also open to receiving money to support programming at SAYFTEE where I am Co-director. SAYFTEE is a socially conscious group psychotherapy practice serving gender expansive and LGBTQI+ people and their loved ones.

Thank you for pausing to honor my reflections and intentions.

It should be noted that this meditation assumes the listener has a basic understanding of gender versus sex. If you’d like to learn more about this distinction, consider exploring the other resources listed below.

Finally, I ask that when you use this meditation, you attribute it to me, and share the original link.
